Overview: he golf course at the Oakwood Resort recently celebrated its 84th anniversary. Designed and built by Fred Walker in 1922, it possesses a unique layout which never strays far from the resort complex. The beauty of the course is enhanced by mature coniferous and stately oaks, which on many holes play a part in narrowing the fairways and approaches to the greens. The course is a challenging 5356 yards, and there is not one sand trap to contend with - which only adds credence to the natural layout and individuality. However, there are enough trees and water to capture one's attention. The greens are the prime feature. The mixture of poa and bent grass has, over time, created a carpet-like cushion that entices you to discard your shoes and walk over them barefoot.
