Tiger is ultra-telegenic, Federer isn't...and Tiger's from the US. Being Swiss is a huge negative for Federer. A tiny European country that's universally perceived as having a boring, methodical population... that's not going to raise the profile of any sport or athlete.

Remember, tennis used to be much more popular in North America back through the years of Connors, McEnroe, Agassi, Sampras. Maybe they didn't possess tennis the way Federer does, but they made the game fun and exciting. It doesn't seem to cut it just to dominate and be the best from an athletic standpoint.

Hey, Tiger's also another kind of <a href="http://golfchick.blogspot.com/2007/01/golf-horoscopes-why-im-like-tiger-woods.html" rel="nofollow">goat</a>!
I don't think Federer is, though.
