Nike Golf Introduces Two New Men’s Styles of Tour-Performance Footwear

Sep 15, 2008 @ 09:54 pm by Nigel Da Costa

TORONTO (September 9, 2008)– Nike Golf has introduced two new styles of Men’s Tour authentic footwear - one that offers a complete package for today’s game and the other offering a classic style that is redefined.

Typifying Nike Golf’s complete package for today’s game is the new Nike Air Zoom Elite II, which represents the second generation of the original Nike Air Zoom Elite shoe that has been frequently seen on the feet of many Nike Golf athletes on the PGA Tour in the last year, including K.J. Choi, Stewart Cink and Stephen Ames. Presenting a more classic style in golf footwear is the Air Zoom Tour, which represents Nike’s own interpretation of a saddle golf shoe.

Nike Air Zoom Elite II

As with its predecessor, the Nike Air Zoom Elite II provides a complete package for today’s game by combining comfort, lateral stability and Tour performance with a level of attitude in styling for the progressive golfer.

The most significant distinction between the first and second generation of Nike Air Zoom Elite, is the encapsulated Zoom Air unit, which replaces the caged Zoom Air unit found in the original Air Zoom Elite.  The new low-profile encapsulated Zoom Air unit brings the foot closer to the ground (8mm lower).  This low-profile, responsive cushioning provides a more stable foundation for greater lateral control that helps facilitate maximum power through the swing.

Product testing at the Nike Sports Research Lab (NSRL) validated the encapsulated Zoom Air unit construction, which revealed that even at 8mm lower to the ground, the Zoom Air unit achieved the same level of heel cushioning as the previous caged Zoom Air construction.

Another distinction of the new Air Zoom Elite II is the caged lateral support system - an exoskeletal webbing that is injected onto the upper lateral side of the shoe.  Made of TPU material, the upper caged lateral support system harnesses the foot for improved balance over the footbed, which, with the help of Nike’s updated Nike Power Platform Channel, maximizes power and control.  In addition to the aforementioned enhanced technology, the Air Zoom Elite II also offers the following technology benefits:

Ø      Watershield Plus – keeps water out while the foot stays dry and cool.  2-year waterproof guarantee.

Ø      Premium Full-Grain Leather – Soft, supportive comfort.

Ø      Poron Sockliner – Full-length and contoured for instant comfort for the life of the shoe.

Ø      Champ Scorpion Stinger Spikes - Dual durometer TPU for optimal traction, comfort and durability.

The team format of “Big Break X: Michigan” is a series first, with the eight two-person teams—each comprised of a male and female—testing each competitor’s games as much as their relationships in the Big Break series’ 10th season. The teams will face some of the most grueling competition in series history in which they could win a lifelong dream at the risk of losing a lifelong friendship.

Here Is What The Contestants Can Choose From:
Ashworth is replacing 100% polyester with its Third Groove Performance category of Men’s golf shirts, which are made of innovative blends of pima cotton and polyester that are the ultimate in performance, comfort and style. The performance attributes include moisture wicking, breathability, lightweight, no snagging and no odor issues.
Ashworth is continuing, yet improving upon, its state-of-the-art Hi-Def Luxury 100% cotton fabric shirt category, which is geared for a more classic, refined look. This special process gives the fabric a lustrous feel of luxury, but is easy care and won’t wrinkle or shrink.
Ashworth Organics is a brand-new, great-looking line made of sustainable, recyclable or 100 percent organic cottons. Ashworth Organics’ colors can cross merchandise with the other pieces in the line. Ashworth Organics incorporates very comfortable fabrics and classic styles that take a step toward environmentally friendly products.
Another new line called ASHW33 is designed for a slightly younger, hipper mindset. This avante garde look is designed with performance fabrics and unique graphic elements, stitching details and subtle treatments. This shirt group boasts a “mod fit,” which is an updated slimmer fit.
Some of the trends Ashworth incorporated into its Fall 2008 women’s lines include monochromatic prints, oversized buttons, lightweight sweaters and outerwear. Because golf is truly a lifestyle, Ashworth designed some items that can be worn from the golf course straight into the golfer’s daily off-course activities.
The first collection, California, has a very specific Southern California feel. It is made up of warm tones of yellow and crisp white with some soft-khaki accents. The second collection, New York, has a very preppy, East Coast feel. Silhouettes are very traditional, yet sophisticated. The collection contains very classic colors—black, white, khaki and a very rich red tone—and offers lots of variety in layering pieces. Hawaii, the third collection, has a water theme and consists of deep blues and vibrant crisp aqua greens.
This collection offers a performance edge with a selection of knits that are moisture wicking, quick drying and breathable.

Core Golf Junior Academy new name for Junior Golf Academy of Canada

Sep 07, 2008 @ 10:24 pm by Nigel Da Costa

ORLANDO, Florida (August 26, 2008)-The Junior Golf Academy of Canada has been re-launched as the Core Golf Junior Academy to better reflect the academy’s appeal internationally and core pillars that make the academy so effective in teaching junior golfers.

Known as the Florida home for PGA Tour instructor Sean Foley, the Junior Golf Academy of Canada was established in 2006 and quickly established itself as a premier coaching academy that integrates private schooling and intensive instruction for high-school aged juniors. The academy based at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Orlando has just begun its third academic season.

“Given that Sean and most of us are Canadians with roots in the Greater Toronto Area, the original name served us well in our early years to establish ourselves with aspiring junior golfers and their families who were looking for a high-level junior academy,” said Jeff Hay, Director of Operations.

”Core Golf Junior Academy allows us to communicate more effectively with international students and American student families, and it better reflects the attributes that combine to make our academy an effective environment for growing as golfers and people.”

The new name also reflects the academy’s credo that values of excellence, healthy living, integrity, and dedication are at the core of great golfers and outstanding citizens of the world.

Our students are mentored by a powerful team of coaches who are among the rising stars of PGA Tour:

·        Sean Foley, Director of Instruction, whose students include PGA Tour players Stephen Ames and Sean O’Hair, the Nationwide Tour’s Greg Owen, Ontario Amateur Champion Nicole Vandermade, and Ontario Girls Champion Jennifer Kirby.
·        Dr. Craig Davies, Director of Fitness and Nutrition, whose clients include PGA Tour players Ames, Hunter Mahan, Jon Mills, Chris Stroud, and George McNeill.
·        Neale Smith, Performance Enhancement Consultant, who works with PGA Tour players Mahan, Steve Allan, Scott McCarron, Nathan Green, and Nick Flanagan.
“Our world-class team is focused on providing our promising young golfers with individual mentoring in a nurturing environment so they may realize their potential and fulfill their dreams on and off the golf course,” Hay said.
