Toronto’s InnerGolf

Feb 26, 2009 @ 12:05 am by Nigel Da Costa

Canada is a great place to live and is home to some amazing golf courses. The being said, with long winters, not being able to play makes it difficult to maintain your skill level all year round. While indoor facilities do exist is rural areas, they generally don’t exist in downtown core areas. In my case, I live and work in downtown Toronto and don’t have the time to drive 45 mins outside the city to visit indoor facilities.

Luckily a solution exists! I have started visiting InnerGolf, a downtown Toronto indoor golf facility. You won’t find any driving ranges here but you will find state-of-the-art aboutGolf Simulators, putting/chipping greens, first class instructors and even a licensed bar. InnerGolf is a great place to some and have some fun with friends but it can be more than that.

Owner Mark Walker invited me to try out the new simulators and see the advantages of training on them. I was pleasantly shocked at how realistic they were and how playing here all winter long will better equip me for the outdoor season.

More to follow on the simulators themselves and my exciting new project with Eva Kovacs, Director of Golf.

Bob McCown, Canada’s most listened to radio host is preparing to launch his own web site in a few weeks.  The site, Fadoo.ca, promises to be more than your average sports site with lots of great writers focusing on sports and the business of sports.  I am looking forward to checking it out.  You can register on the site for an email update once the site goes live.

PGA Merchandise Show

Feb 02, 2009 @ 04:52 pm by Nigel Da Costa

I am back after 3 days at the PGA Merchandise Show.  The show brought out the stars this year…Greg Norman, Annika, Sorenstam, Tom Kite, Fuzzy Zoeller and Scotty Cameron were just a few of the people I saw at the Show.

The show was average at best with the current economic climate taking its toll on both exhibitors and attendees.  Traffic was slow and the general buzz was not the same as past years.  Despite that however, Titleist made their return to the show after a 6-year hiatus.  Rumor on the floor was that they were given free space because there was extra inventory available…if true, all other exhibitors will not be happy when being asked to renew for 2010!
